A French actor interviewed on TV suggested 'To be or not to be' is not the question. He re-phrased it as, 'To be or not - to be is the question.' He seems to have a point. What are we doing here?
We are certainly not separate from the Universe observing it from outside. That's an old religious idea. It has not weathered well since science came along.
But, like the child is not just the same as its parents and their antecedents, neither do we seem to be, as science shows we are, made just the same as the evolved Universe of trees and rocks and rivers, stars, galaxies and black holes. Science has the evidence we are, but all the circumstances and most personal experience beg to differ.
What we have to find the answer to is, are we the product of biology or physics and how does that work?
"What
is Life?" remains the question.
As for the Universe being God and all the other intriguing proposals, these are words, words, words, because the answer's still missing.
